Police Officer Hiring Process:

  1. Complete a City of Valdez application and F-3 Personal History Questionnaire.
  2. Pass a written test through Public Safety Testing (minimum 70%).
  3. Entry-level applicants: Pass a physical fitness test.
  4. Pass a written psychological exam and interview (remote option).
  5. Complete an EyeDetect exam (in-person).
  6. Pass an oral board interview and background investigation (in-person).
  7. Complete a pre-employment physical.
  8. Final review and selection by the Chief of Police.

Public Safety Technician (PST) 

Public Safety Technicians (PSTs) are vital to the safety and security of Valdez, managing the Valdez Municipal Jail and coordinating Emergency Services Dispatching. New hires begin as PST 1 and advance to PST 2 upon completing all training phases.

Salary: $33.21–$48.78/hr

Role Includes:
